IEC C7 is a two-pole, non-earthed appliance connector used with compatible equipment inlets. Its profile is commonly described as “figure-8”.
What the connection identifies
IEC C7 describes the equipment-side connector, not the country-specific mains plug. An enquiry should therefore state both the plug required for the destination market and the C7 appliance connection.
Typical applications
It may be found on compatible televisions, audio systems, media equipment, adapters, small electronic devices and certain lighting products. A similar-looking inlet is not sufficient: confirm the connector designation and electrical data in the equipment documentation.
Earthing and compatibility
C7 is a two-pole connection without an earthing contact and should not be treated as suitable for equipment requiring protective earth. The mains plug, conductor, insulation and both terminations must be considered as a complete cord set.
